ABOUT US

Kids West is a local Western Sydney children’s charity that raises funds for medical equipment, research, and the development of childhood accident awareness and prevention programs.

Founded by Trevor Oldfield and Professor Reuben Dubois of Westmead Hospital, Kids West have been supporting paediatric and neonatal intensive care units across Western Sydney since 1991.

We’re a no frills charity that bridges the gap in hospital funding to provide vital life-saving equipment to Western Sydney hospitals, supporting local families when it’s needed the most. So far we’ve donated in excess of $5.2 million throughout Western Sydney!

OUR TEAM

Over the past 28 years Kids West has successfully recruited board member volunteers from NSW Police, Ambulance, Fire and Rescue as well as local business leaders,
doctors, nurses and those with administrative skills. This has placed us in a unique and powerful position to raise funds and ensure they are
distributed to areas giving the best result possible for the Western Sydney community.

Kevin is a retired Ambulance Paramedic, having served with the Ambulance Service of NSW for 21 years, mainly in Western Sydney. While seconded to the Media and Public Relations Unit for 6 months he attended the meeting in 1991 at Westmead Hospital where it all began. Kevin came away from that meeting as Kids West Treasurer, a position he held for 20 years.

Prior to working as a Paramedic, Peter spent 15 years in the NSW Police Force.

“During my Police and Ambulance service I saw first hand the ‘other side’ of Sydney. Through the formation of Kids West I saw the opportunity to make a difference by funding much needed equipment, and to support parents who could not otherwise afford to have their children at home. Since its inception Kids West has made that much needed difference to children of Western Sydney.”
